Flip a coin

Generate one, three, ten, or one hundred Heads-or-Tails outcomes and track this page’s totals.

Loading the tool… JavaScript is required for processing on your device. The instructions and examples below are available without JavaScript.

How to use it

Press Flip. Choose 10 or 100 to flip many coins at once and see the totals.

Good to know

Each flip uses your browser’s cryptographic random source, so heads and tails are equally likely.

Make a bounded random choice

Choose the number of flips and press Flip. A single flip reports Heads or Tails; a larger batch reports its heads and tails counts. The totals accumulate until Reset totals. Decide in advance what each side means if you are using the tool to choose between two options.

Each result comes from the browser’s cryptographic random-value API and maps one of two equally sized outcomes to each side.

Read batches as samples

A batch of 10 or 100 need not be evenly split. Random results vary, and an accumulated total is not a prediction of the next result. The tool does not retain a history after the page is reloaded or provide an audit trail for a decision that needs one.

Frequently asked questions

Is this coin flip random?

Yes. Each result comes from a cryptographic random generator with a 50/50 chance.

Can I flip a coin 100 times?

Yes. Choose 100 flips to see how many heads and tails come up.

Can I flip a coin to make a decision?

Absolutely—assign heads and tails to your two options before you flip.
