Good to know
Characters are counted as Unicode code points. Some platforms count emoji or links differently.
Check a line against a stated limit
Set the limit used by your destination and paste the final wording. With a limit of 280, Write your post here and see how many characters are left. contains 58 characters and reports 222 left of 280. The tool also shows 48 characters without spaces, 11 words, one line, and 58 UTF-8 bytes.
Destination rules can differ
Characters are counted as Unicode code points. A platform can apply its own rules for links, emoji sequences, line breaks, markup, or non-Latin characters, so use the destination’s composer as the final check. This tool counts what you paste; it does not shorten text or predict truncation in search or social previews.
