Data size converter
Convert byte counts between decimal and binary data-size units.
Loading the tool… JavaScript is required for processing on your device. The instructions and examples below are available without JavaScript.
How to use it
Enter a size and choose the source and destination unit.
Good to know
KB and MB use 1,000; KiB and MiB use 1,024.
Convert storage and transfer sizes
Choose a source and destination unit. 1024 bytes converts to 1 KiB. The tool supports bytes, KB, MB, GB, KiB, MiB, and GiB.
Do not mix decimal and binary prefixes
KB, MB, and GB use powers of 1,000; KiB, MiB, and GiB use powers of 1,024. Therefore 1 MB is 1,000,000 bytes while 1 MiB is 1,048,576 bytes.
Use a non-negative number and round the result for display only after checking the destination’s unit convention. A service’s advertised capacity, billing rule, or transfer limit may define units differently, so read that service’s documentation for a binding limit.
