How to use it
Click the test area normally. Each click is timed, and two clicks that arrive faster than the threshold are flagged as a close click pair.
Good to know
The page measures intervals between browser events. A short interval alone does not identify a hardware fault.
Check a repeatable click pattern
Set a threshold, then make 20 deliberate single left clicks in the test area, leaving enough time between each one that you are not intentionally double-clicking. The page records the last gap, counts browser dblclick events, and flags left-button pairs closer than the selected 50, 80, 100, or 150 ms threshold.
If the Close click pairs counter increases while you are clicking slowly, repeat the same trial after reconnecting the mouse or trying its usual surface. A counter of zero only means this page did not receive a close pair during that trial. It does not prove that a switch is healthy in every program.
Interpret the threshold carefully
The flag is a timing rule, not a hardware diagnosis. A lower threshold catches only very close pairs; a higher one can flag rapid deliberate clicks. Browser event timing, wireless latency, operating-system settings, and your clicking technique all affect the result. The test listens only for the primary button in its test area.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know if my mouse is double clicking?
Single-click the test area slowly about 20 times. A rising counter means the page received clicks closer together than the selected threshold; repeat the test and compare another application.
Why is my mouse double clicking?
Possible causes include device behavior, settings, software, or intentional fast clicks. This page cannot distinguish them; compare another application and consult the device maker if the issue persists.
What threshold should I use?
The default is 80 ms. It is a test setting, not a diagnostic standard. Keep the threshold the same when comparing attempts.
