How to use it
Enter a signed numerator and a non-zero signed denominator.
Good to know
Fractions use exact integer arithmetic, so large whole numbers do not lose precision.
Reduce a fraction without rounding
Enter an integer numerator and a non-zero integer denominator. 42/56 becomes 3/4. The result keeps the denominator positive, so 1/-2 becomes -1/2.
Use integers only
The tool finds the greatest common divisor with exact integer arithmetic, so large whole-number inputs do not lose precision. It does not turn decimal values into fractions or calculate a mixed-number form.
A denominator of zero is invalid. If you need a decimal average of a set of values, use the average calculator.
