Spacebar counter

Count non-repeating Space key presses over a selected timed run.

How to use it

Choose a duration and start pressing the spacebar. The timer begins with your first press.

Good to know

Holding the key down does not count—each press must be released. On phones, tap the test area.

Count distinct presses

Choose 5, 10, 30, or 60 seconds, click away from form fields, then press Space to begin. Each non-repeating keydown increments the count; holding the key down does not add auto-repeat events. On a touch device, pressing the pad starts and increments the test.

At the end, the tool shows total presses and total divided by the selected duration. Reset before a new attempt or before changing duration.

Know what it can test

This is a counter for key events delivered to the page. It can show that Space registered during this trial, but it cannot establish why a press was missed or prove keyboard performance. Browser focus, accessibility software, operating-system shortcuts, and a held key’s repeat behavior can change what the page receives.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good spacebar score in 10 seconds?

Compare repeated attempts under the same conditions. This tool does not establish a typical population score.

Does holding the spacebar count?

No. Auto-repeat from a held key is ignored so only real presses count.

Can I use this as a spacebar tester?

It can show presses delivered to this page. Missing presses can involve focus, browser handling, or the device; compare with the keyboard tester and another application.
